As part of the green initiative, the hotel also has arranged so that:

  • - The reception staff are able to provide information about current environmental activities of the Corporation, as the available public transportation.
  • - There are obvious signs for customers and staff, mentioned energy saving (TV room, lights, heating, air conditioning, etc.).
  • - In bathrooms, bedrooms and communal, there are signs that inform customers that the sheets and towels will be changed only when requested.
  • - The hotel participates in a program for the collection and management of used cooking fats and oils, waste kitchen grease installed.

The buildings are designed and oriented so as to facilitate the passage of natural light. The combination of scarce local black stone and ample vegetation acts as a natural surrounding air cools and organic buildings. Moreover, the profile of buildings, levels and open courtyards provide natural lighting and ventilation, minimizing the use of artificial lighting. Efficient lighting systems have also been used, with lights that have low mercury accessories like outdoor lights have been carefully positioned.

Water efficiency is also central to the construction and operation of the hotel. Reducing the demand for water is achieved through the use of efficient appliances in bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. A system with hydropneumatic pump installed for uniform water pressure throughout the hotel. Irrigation of landscaped areas of vegetation also includes the use of rainwater.

According to the vision of Mikro Papigo 1700 to integrate and maintain the community, from the construction phase until today to further ensure that our presence contributes to the local economy, the hotel obtains, where possible, from local businesses.

For example, fresh vegetables and meats are from local producers. The traditional black stone buildings, came from old traditional houses and pelekithike hand craftsmen from the region.
